Ipswich vs Cardiff (preview)

Cardiff City travel to Portman Road to fave Ipswich Town in the end of season showdown. Unfortunately, there is nothing at stake for either side following Cardiff's fall from grace to join the Ipswich Tractor Boys in mid-table obscurity.

As such, Cardiff may well go with an experimental line-up ahead of the mass exodus in the summer. Expect to see promising youngsters such as Gunter, Blake, Ramsey and Green make an appearance.

Cardiff City are in truly woeful form. The Bluebirds have picked up one solitary point from the previous 7 games whereas anything like decent form would have seen them involved with the play-offs this weekend.

Just one goal in 400 minutes is hardly inspiring stuff, and the goalscorer that day (at home against Stoke) will be absent through suspension.

Ipswich, by contrast, are in good form - winning 4 and drawing 2 of their previous 7 including an impressive win over Derby and an emphatic thrashing of Barnsley.

Included in the matchday squad will be former Bluebird, Alan Lee. The Irish frontman has prospered since a move from Ninian Park, and looks altogether a better player. He already has 17 goals this season and would love to add another against his former club.

Its been a strangew season in many respects. Cardiff have enjoyed the highs and lows, up-and-down throughout the season. Ipswich however have remained consistently in mid-table. Just 5 points separate the sides going into the final game, despite vastly contrasting seasons for the two sides.

Team news to follow later, but with nothing to play for, the game and line-ups are fairly unpredictable.

VitalCardiff hopes to see a renewed spirit and work ethic from Cardiff City, with the youngsters adding a much needed fresh impetus to the squad.

Our prediction for the game is a 2-2 draw, and a first goal in Cardiff colours for one of our young stars.
