Cardiff City's hotshot striker Michael Chopra has been rumoured to be at the centre of a Premiership tussle for his signiture with Manchester City, Everton and Middlesborough all thought to be interested.
Whilst all three have struggled for goals, they have NOT approached Cardiff City with regards to Chopra and all three are likely to have other targets in addition to the ex-Newcastle United star.
A recent contract extension signed by the player signalled his intention to stay but intersted parties were alerted by the presence of a clause in his contract which allows him to move to any club willing to offer the price of £5m. However, Chopra's agent publically claimed that this price had been inflated and it is thought that the actual fee involved is £3.75m.
At that price, there are bound to be Premiership managers who take a very close look at the player. It seems a low price for an intelligent player, who is young and has a knack for scoring especially in light of the £4m transfer of Cameron Jerome to a rival Championship club - Birmingham City.
Dave Jones has denied any contact with any other club and appears to be planning for next season with Chopra an integral part of his squad:
'We have not had an approach from either of them (Everton or Man City), or any other club. Michael is a Cardiff City player, he has just signed a new contract and clearly we want him to stay.'
