Cardiff to Move Early for Signings

Cardiff City aim to move quickly in their bid to replace departing players.

The Bluebirds are set for a major re-building excercise and club Chairman Peter Ridsdale wants to move early to replace the outgoing members.

Around half the current squad are expected to leave meaning that Cardiff City will start their next campaign with a much changed look and squad dynamic.

Very few players remain from the pre-Dave Jones era at Ninian Park, two of those (Neil Alexander and Chris Barker) are hotly tipped to be moving on while Paul Parry is another who could be on his way.

Peter Ridsdale wants to move quickly allowing time for the new squad to gel, and to take advantage of 'bargains' in the transfer market:

'What I'm looking for is bargains, by that I mean quality players at good prices because we are not going to overspend.'

'I hope to have a verbal agreement with at least two players to come here within the next week or two.'

Without reading too deeply into Ridsdale's comments, it seems a fair assessment that there will not be a large transfer kitty available and the club are looking at free transfers and Bosman transfers as a way of bringing in players for little cash.

We wait and see whether the drive and ambition of the club matches their talk.
