Cardiff Star Disappointed With Club

Cardiff City's inspirational captain Darren Purse has confessed himself 'disappointed' at not being offered a new deal by the club.

Speculation has risen recently over Purse's future at the club, with Sheffield United and Charlton showing interest. Purse meanwhile has re-stated his committment to The Bluebirds and underlined his determination to stay.

Purse has always maintained his desire to stay at Cardiff, and, after hearing confirmation from Dave Jones that he remains an important part of the squad, Purse wants to commit his future to CCFC past the one year he has remaining on his current deal.

Speaking on his personal website, Purse said:

'I do find it a little disappointing that they haven't tried to snap me up already, especially as captain. I have had 2 years here already and put in some good service, but that's football nowadays.'

'I am hopeful that I've got a bit more time to come at Cardiff'.

It seems that Purse is still regarded highly by Dave Jones and would only be sold in order to release funds for squad rebuilding. Purse has been a loyal and dedeicated servant to the club, as well as a useful defender. He may not be first choice centre-back next season, but is likely to be a very good alternative.

Injury-prone, mistake-prone and always good for a red card or two. Hope Darren stays, he's a good sort and great as cover.
