Cardiff: Midfielder Set For Comeback

Cardiff City's Riccardo Scimeca is ready to put his injury nightmare of the last couple of months behind him and start against QPR at the weekend.

Scimeca had torn a muscle in his hamstring, and his comeback has been repeatedly hampered by recurrance of the injury.

He returned to the line-up to face Sunderland, but was forced off at half-time. Scimeca now looks set to resume alongside Stephen McPhail although many fans would prefer to see McPhail rested and Ledley continue in midfield.

Scimeca was due to line-up against Stoke last weekend but phoned Dave Jones at 9am to inform him of stiffness he felt after Friday's training session.

Scimeca's presence and ball-winning abilities have been missed in central midfield and with no like-for-like cover available, squad reshuffles have been needed to fill the gap. Simon Walton initially filled in, but was ineffective and then picked up a suspension after a straight red card for a horrific foul on Sheffield Wednesday's Peter Gilbert.
