Smith: No Regrets Over Cardiff Move

Manchester United and England's talented striker Alan Smith has revelaed he has no regrets after turning down a loan move to then table-toppers Cardiff City.

Smith broke his leg in a game against Liverpool, leaving him sidelined for almost a year. His future at Manchester United looked bleak and his manager Sir Alex Ferguson gave his backing to a loan stint at Cardiff - intended for the player to gain some match fitness.

Smith gave serious consideration to the move, but decided to remain at his favourite club and right for a place:

'It is a huge challenge and in difficult times, it would have been easy to run away from it. But I am not going to do that.'

'Sometimes, you have to make brave decisions. A lot of people questioned me when I said I wanted to stay but now, I hope the manager is pleased with the decision I made.'

Smith has played a part for the Red Devils of late and has played in a total of 6 games since March. The player was highly impressive during Man Utd's 7-1 thrashing of Roma and will look to play a much weighty role in Manchester United's season next year.
