Cardiff City manager Dave Jones is set to wield the axe in the summer after seeing his side squander a fantastic position to now sit in 11th place in the Championship.
'We have a group that needs to be built on and there are players that need to go, it'll be a busy summer,'
'We'll probably go down to about 12 players which will be a good nucleus. We need to get better in some areas, youngsters must learn fast or get out.'
The straight-talking scouser also confirmed he would not be making bids to sign either of his loan players (Kerrea Gilbert or Simon Walton) permanently. Dutchman Iwan Redan is also almost certain to leave having yet to feature for the first team.
Other players in possible danger are Scotsman Steve Thompson and midfielder Willo Flood. Kevin Campbell will not recieve another playing contract at the club while Mark Howard, Luigi Glombard, Malvin Kamara and Nick McKoy are all likely to be released.
Jones signalled his intentions to rebuild from a squad nucleus as small as 12 players but sounded a warning note to any Cardiff fans expected a summer spending spree:
'We've got to plan for next season, but I can't do what Roy Keane has done and buy players for £2m or £3m.'
'I'll just go out and do what I did last summer, which is pick up people like Michael Chopra.'
Thats just fine with us Dave.....
