Thompson out, new-boy in for Cardiff

Cardiff City manager Dave Jones is normally one to stand behind his players and give his backing to an out-of-form player. His supportive stance has been good for the team and in most cases, one player can be covered for if a team is playing well.

In Steve Thompson however, Cardiff have an effective, hard-working and selfless frontman who looks to have been made a scapegoat for Cardiff's recent lack of goals.

The last two games (defeats to Sheffield Wednesday and Burnley) have ended Cardiff's hopes of a play-off spot and in those two games Steve Thompson was dropped for a 'lack of form'.

It is true that Thompson has struggled for goals all season, he has just 6 strikes to his name and few headers which is disappointing given the two wingers Cardiff have playing in the side.

His replacement has been the on-loan Luton striker Warren Feeney. The Northern Irishman has worked hard and made some intelligent runs but its a tough ask to come into a misfiring team and improve the perfromances. His partnership with Chopra needs work and the two have made similar runs on several occasions in the past two games.

Feeney is on loan, but has expressed his desire to remain with the Bluebirds, this is likely to happen after Cardiff shelled out a high price to bring him in on loan.
