Cardiff Players Disagree On Future

Aside from the Cardiff City players failing to gel on the pitch, their comments off the pitch far from complement each other. Following Roger Johnson's comments regardign exchanges of words in the dressing room after the Burnely defeat, several of Cardiff's big players have spoken out:

Johnson himself has pledged to keep going in search of an unlikely play-off berth:

'With four games to go, if we can get 12 points that will put us on 75, at the start of the season you would expect to be in the play-offs with a total like that.'

His stance was backed-up by Republic of Ireland midfielder Stephen McPhail:

'It is not too late - if we can grab a scrappy win against Stoke then we are back in it.'

However, while the reluctance to give-in of the players is admirable, it was not echoed by their captain Darren Purse.

Purse made comments today to the South Wales Echo:

'All we can concentrate on now is winning our next four games, but we're well out of it, I think.'

Purse did concede that while there was a mathematical chance, the players would still aim for the prize but he sounded as it he, if not the others, had conceded defeat.
