Cardiff's Chopra loses top-spot

Cardiff City hotshot Michael Chopra is no longer clear at the top of the Championship goalscorers list.

The Geordie had lead by several clear goals but has been out-of-sorts recently. He activated a clause in his contract when he scored his 20th (and 21st) in a 4-1 win over Preston North End, that was back in February and Chopra has failed to hit the net since.

That's 7 games without a goal for Michael Chopra, and it comes as no surprise that the team has struggled for goals in that run. Just 4 goals came, and only one from a striker despite the multitude of attackers at Jones' disposal.

One striker who cannot seem to stop scoring, is 31 year old Colchester forward Jamie Cureton. Seven goals in 4 games, including a brilliant hat-trick against Southend, has propelled Cureton up the goalscoring charts and he now shares top-spot with Chopra.

It is a remarkable feat for the experienced striker in a team widely expected to struggle this season. That however has not been the case and Colchester still have an outside chance of achieving a play-off place and they have now overtaken the struggling Bluebirds to sit in 9th place.

Given the respective forms of both players and both teams, it would take a brave bet to plump for Chopra to win the award from this point. West Brom's Diomansy Kamara also has a decent chance with 20 goals.
