Burnley vs Cardiff (in short)

Cardiff City lost touch with their play-off rivals after slipping to a defeat to Burnley at Turf Moor in a disappointing Easter Monday for the Bluebirds.

An early goal for Steve Jones, after slack defending, meant Cardiff were always chasing the game. They tried hard but were seriously lacking in quality and confidence.

For the second game running, Roger Johnson came closest to a goal, his second header cleared off the line in 3 days. The defender also had a goal ruled out for offside after converting a clipped Chopra free-kick.

Paul McVeigh sealed the game early in the second half converting from a pass from the impressive Wade Elliot.

It was not a good performance from Cardiff, they had plenty of possession and looked reasonably lively but there was no driving force and no end product. In short this was not the performance of anybody fighting for promotion.

The result leaves Cardiff all the way back in 10th place and 5 points behind the 6th place team with just 4 games to play.
