Cardiff Fans Side Against Jones

Cardiff City fans have voted against the club over the recent Neil Alexander debacle.

Alexander, currently the club's longest serving player, is set to leave Cardiff City in the summer when his contract expires. He was offered a new deal several months ago, but the offer was not acceptable to the player due to the terms included, thought to be dependences on first team appearances.

The club have been unwilling to offer an improved deal, and have now withdrawn the formal offer meaning that the Scottish International is almost certain to leave, despite maintaining his desire to stay at Ninian Park.

Although not always the most dominant of goalkeepers, Neil has been in excellent form this season (he is ranked third best keeper in the Actim statistics) and has pulled off some truly world class saves.

A recent poll on this Vital Cardiff website invited readers to share their opinions on the player:

A near unanimous 94% wanted to see Alexander still a Bluebird next season with a huge majority (84%) seeing him as an important first team player.
6% were undecided as to the player's future while absolutely no-one voted that Alexander should leave!!

This is the most clear-cut poll ever run on VitalCardiff and shows a wealth of support for a proven player.

Scotland's Number One!!!

I'm with DJ on this, as long as he knows someone just as good to come in on the same wages
Aderyn las
But who could that be? You'd expect to pay a sizable amount for a player of Alexander's experience and quality
Bonesy
He's also the perfect age for a keeper, just coming into his best years

Well Doherty is unproven, but has to be a better bet than Mark Howard - useless!
little_miss_bluebird
Well this Ged Doherty from TNS will be cheap, not sure if he's any good

Alexander took a wage cut not so long ago, and he wants to stay. Add to that his consistency this season and it looks a no-brainer!

Cant say that i want him to leave - but Dave Jones knows best...
Geraint
