Cardiff's Defender Set For Talks

Cardiff City manager Dave Jones is today holding talks with reserve team defender Michael Corcoran regarding his future at the club.

Corcoran, a Northern Irish U21 International, has been on loan at Conference side Oxford United since January. Oxford are chasing promotion to the football league and sit comfortably in 2nd place but with little chance of achieving automatic promotion.

Corcoran joined the U's in January on a 3-month emergency loan. This means he will be ineligible to Oxford for the Conference play-offs as the loan cannot be extended.

Corcoran could be tempted by a permanent move to Oxford, should they win through the play-offs and join the football league. He is keen to recieve assurances from Dave Jones at to his prospective future at Ninian Park and will hold talks with his manager today.

Cardiff are short of players at centre-half, leading to aging war-horse Kevin Campbell being played their for the reserves instead of his usual position as a striker. Injuries to Glenn Loovens and Darren Purse have seen Kevin McNaughton covering in an unfamiliar position recently.

Hungarian defender Bela Belogh impressed on a recent trial with the Bluebirds and may be offered a permanent deal in the summer.
