Cardiff Midfielder Injury Woe

Cardiff City will be without key midfielder Riccy Scimeca after the player suffered a reaction to his torn groin.

Scimeca was doubtful for Saturday's clash with Sunderland, he was passed fit to play but struggled and was withdrawn at half time. He was given a pain-killing injection prior to the game, but the injury hampered his running and now looks set to rule him out for some time.

Scimeca now waits for a specialist diagnosis to discover the extent of the tear and whether his playing aggravated the injury on the weekend.

Scimeca has been influential all season for Cardiff and will be missed for the run-in. On loan Charlton player Simon Walton is the likely man to step in.

'A scan is now needed, I will see a specialist about it and go from there but it doesn't look great.' Confirmed Scimeca.

'I have had a slight tear on the groin and while that has healed, I have had other problems around that area which have affected me.'

'I have to be honest with myself, the physio, the manager, the players and the supporters. It has come to a point where I have to say 'no, I can't do it'.'

'I'm gutted to be honest - I've tried to get through it, but I need time for it to settle down and I'm not the most patient of people.'

I dont think he's been anywhere near as effective 2nd half of season. we're lacking in central midfield and Scimeca has been poor of late - time for a change anyway?
