Cardiff New Boy in Healy Tribute

Cardiff City new boy Warren Feeney was selected ahead of highly rated Burnley star Kyle Lafferty but it was his strike partner David Healy who rightly took all the plaudits as a resurgent Northern Ireland caused an upset in defeating Sweden 2-1.

Feeney, widely expected to make his first Cardiff City start this weekend, played alongside Healy for 80 minutes and was full of admiration for his fellow forward:

'David doesn't seem to score scrappy goals, all his strikes seem to be world class finishes,'

'I was just delighted to play, I want to wear the shirt and play alongside a player like David.'

'There's a long way to go in the group but with David on the pitch anything is possible.'

'It's great to look at the table and see where we are. We will look back at the Iceland game and talk about what ifs but I think it was good for us because look how far we have come since then.'

We are going into a break and a win against Liechtenstein would give us 16 points and we had a feeling 20 points would see us home.'

It's back to Championship action now for Feeney and he needs to be ready if Michael Chopra does not make the game. He will be hoping to made a good start to his Cardiff City career and make a good impression on the fans after some questions were raised over his signing.
