Cardiff City could be set to make a loan move for Portsmouth striker Svetoslav Todorov.
The striker is highly regarded at Fratton Park, especially by the fans after his heroic exploits in securing promotion for Pompey several years ago. Since then, the dangerous striker suffered a devastating injury, and has only just recovered to full fitness and found it difficult to break back into the Portsmouth first XI.
He is out of contract at the end of the season and is currently behind the likes of Benjani, LuaLua and Kranjcar. Andy Cole is also there but looks set to leave on loan.
Pompey manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed that 'Toddy' would be allowed to leave if he wanted first team football but left the doors at Fratton Park wide open for a return of the Bulgarian striker:
'Of course Toddy's got a chance of playing for us this season. No-one has to tell me about Toddy. I was the one who bought him here and stuck by him when some people were booing him soon after he arrived.'
'No-one has looked after Toddy better than I have. But he needs to play regularly. Leicester want him. Stoke want him.'
The injury to top-scorer Michael Chopra has left Cardiff short of striking options and they now join a number of Championship clubs competing to lure Todorov to their club. Leicester Chairman Milan Mandaric has a headstart after bringing him to the country but Cardiff and Stoke have far more to play for this season with both sides pushing for a play-off place.
