Cardiff Squad Relishing Final Push

Things are getting extremely tight and tense at the top of the Championship and every win, loss or even draw could prove critical come the final standings. The teams occupying the top 6 change after every match, such is the competition but Cardiff City stand-in captain Riccy Scimeca insists the squad is not fazed by the pressure and are relishing the final promotion charge with 9 games remaining including tonight's crunch game against rivals Southampton.

Scimeca has been skippering the side in the absence of Darren Purse with a back injury. The combative midfielder has enjoyed an excellent season and weighed in with some important goals especially earlier in the season. The experienced man is still looking towards the automatic play-off positions and believes Cardiff have the talent and strength of character to achieve that:

'We're a very close-knit squad. Everyone gets on with each other and we're all prepared to go through the ups and downs together.'

'We most certainly do have the character there. We've got a very good mixture of youth and experience in the side.'

'Why not go for those automatic places? We're in a great position.'

'There's only seven points between us now with nine games remaining and we've all still got to play each other, so we're very confident.
