'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Cardiff City Reaction and Relief

This was by no means a vintage performance by Cardiff City. A scrappy game, dictated by the conditions and the situation saw both sides looking nervous but the three points all go to Cardiff. Exactly what is required at this stage of the season.

Cardiff have demonstrated some breathtaking football at times in this campaign but this gritty, ugly win was of vital importance and waqs crucial going into a tough 3 games against 3 promotion rivals.

They did create chances yesterday, and no-one seemed to panic. Whittingham was denied by a good Tony Warner save, one of his first at Ninian Park! Steve Thompson showed a welcome willingness to shoot given his lengthy barren patch and Paul Parry got his first goal in 5 months despite providing much of City's attacking threat throughout the season.

Michael Chopra was his usual self and ran Doherty and Shackell all over the pitch, creating space for others and causing panic in the Norwich box.

One timely goal was enough for Cardiff , and despite not sealing the result, they got the win, the clean sheet and everyone in the ground knew just how important it was. Only Dave Jones could complain.
