Cardiff fans want Glenn/Roger

A recent poll on the Vital Cardiff homepage invited readers to vote as to which central defensive partnership they would like to see for tomorrow's crucial game against Norwich City.

Captain Darren Purse has returned from injury and Dave Jones has normally chosen to pair Purse and Loovens at the heart of the City defence. Nevertheless Purse may not be fully fit having sat out 6 weeks and played just 60 minutes of reserve team gametime since January.

Roger Johnson has performed admirably in Purse's absence (and when Loovens was suspended), and can be bitterly disappointed to be overlooked. Dominant in the air, he has looked improved n the ground recently and has looked the part in his first season at Championship level.

Cardiff fans have voted for their choice and the clear winner was the Glenn Loovens & Roger Johnson patnership polling an impressive 72%.

Purse & Loovens was the next popular choice with 19% while just 9% wanted to see Glenn Loovens dropped to accomodate Purse.

A more welcome selction dilemma then for Dave Jones, with three capable centre-backs all fighting for 2 spots. Certainly good to have one as cover as Cardiff need to pick up points regularly to keep pace with the play-off pack.
