'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Sam Hammam set for QPR ?!?

Former Cardiff City and Wimbledon Chairman Sam Hammam may be set for a sensational return to football after being linked with a takeover bid at Championship Club Queens Park Rangers.

The controversial character left Cardiff City earlier this season after overseeing a complete transformation at the club, albeit at great expense. Hammam brought the club from the league basement division into the second tier but massive outlays saw the club teeter precariuosly on the brink of administration.

Hammam also took Wimbledon from the 4th to top division in successive seasons as part of the 'Crazy Gang' over a decade ago.

QPR have been floundering this season after following Cardiff City (to whom they lost in the 2003 play-offs) to the Championship the season after Cardiff gained promotion. New manager John Gregory saw a mini-revival but the honeymoon period is over and they currently lie in the relegation zone.

The reports are as yet unconfirmed, but Sam always was a hand-on chairman and will have found a big gap in his life after losing control of Cardiff City. He has the money and the passion to mount a realistic bid for a takeover at the London Club, but may face competition from ex- Crystal Palace Chairman Ron Noades, also rumoured to be showing an interest.
