Cardiff thrash Preston (Reaction)
Cardiff City manager Dave Jones was understandably elated after seeing his side confidently brush aside Preston North End on friday night. The Lilywhites are fighting for promotion alongside Cardiff City and the result saw the Bluebirds jump past PNE and back into the play-off places:
'It was very important to win because we couldn't allow Preston or anyone else to get away from us.'
'We needed maximum points to keep us in the hunt.'
'It was a hard game. We gave them a little bit of hope with the goal but we ended that hope straight away with the third. It was a strong performance.'
Preston boss Paul Simpson was disappointed but pointed to mistakes as well as his side playing their 3rd game in a week:
'It's a massive disappointment. We totally let ourselves down with that second half defensive performance - as a team not just as a back four.
