'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Cardiff's Chopra Clarifies Future

Cardiff City's leading scorer Michael Chopra recently raised some eyebrows when he suggested during a BBC radio interview that he would want a move away from Cardiff City should they fail to gain promotion to the Premiership this season.

It appears Chopra did not intend the message to come across this way and he has since clarified his future and maintains that the comments were merely a sign of his ambition and determination.

Chopra told the Cardiff City Official Website:

'I think what I've said has been misunderstood a touch last night. I do want to play in the Premiership and ideally with Cardiff City. I stress with Cardiff City because I'm loving it down here and the fans and Club have been magic with me.'

'Like any ambitious striker though, I've set my sights on playing at the highest level at some stage in my career. That means at some stage, while I'm still young, I'd like to get up there - as all the rest of the Club would.'

The statement should pacify some Cardiff City fans who had been hurt by the initial coverage of Chopra's interview, thinking him another 'Big Time Charlie' akin to Cameron Jerome last season who clearly wanted out after one good season.

Chopra appears to have the mentality and potential to make it in the Premiership and we all hope that he will make it, preferably as part of Cardiff City Football Club.
