Cardiff chase loan defender
Cardiff City manager Dave Jones has revealed he may be forced to dip into the loan transfer market to cover his lack of defenders, a move he previously ruled out for fear of disrupting the squad harmony.
Darren Purse is several weeks away from fitness after slipping a disc and tearing ligaments in his back.
Glenn Loovens has picked up an automatic 2 match suspension after collecting his 2nd red card of the season on the weekend.
This leaves only Roger Johnson as a recognised centre-half and City have gone from having an abundance of strength in that area, to a complete lack of options.
Any loan signing to come in would be a short term solution to the problem and would be required for a period of 1 month only. However Dave Jones is likely to stick to his philosophy of only bringing in quality loan players who really add something to the team. Fans may argue that any centre-back would be preferable to playing either Simon Walton or Riccy Scimeca out of position, but Jones has a proven track record of recruiting good loan players with both James Chambers and Alan Wright doing solid jobs for Cardiff already.
Jones has not confirmed his interest in any one player but has enquired about a host of players in recent months.
'Darren (Purse) will be out for another two or three weeks so we may have to look for a loan signing.'
'I have spoken to the chairman and we'll be looking to bring somebody in on loan,'
'We'll have to see whether the players we have looked at before are still available.'
