Cardiff defensive worries worsen!
Cardiff City's Dutch centre-half Glenn Loovens will be banned for two matches following his dismissal during Cardiff's 2-2 draw at Coventry. Loovens was sent off by referee Graham Poll for two bookable offences, the first of which looked harsh and occurred during a spat of cards ^ were shown in the first half). Loovens was also dismissed in Cardiff's first defeat this season against Preston North End, and the second red card results in a 2 match ban.
The untimely suspension for Loovens means that Cardiff are lacking in what had been their strongest area, skipper Darren Purse will not recover from a back problem meaning that Roger Johnson is the only centre-half availble. Simon Walton, a midfielder on loan from Charlton, deputised after Loovens was sent off, and Walton spend some of his early years in that position. Riccy Scimeca has also played there earlier in his career but more likely is that Jones will be scouring the loans market for a short term replacement.
Loovens was clearly disappointed to have been sent off:
'It was a tough game but I should not have given the referee a reason to produce a second yellow - it was stupid of me,'
'We knew it would be tough and when we got back into the game and then took the lead I really thought we would go on and collect all three points.
