'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Cardiff hotshot bang in form

After a lean spell lasting November, December and half of January, Cardiff City ace Michael Chopra has risen to the challenge exceptionally to the challenge and after returning to scoring ways with 4 breathtaking goals in 2 games, he is also playing the best football of his Cardiff City spell and probably his career.

A beautifully taken chip against Wolves, combined with an intelligent and workmanlike performance signalled his return to confidence and form. He then single handedly demolished Leicester City with a sublime hat-trick. A rocket of a free-kick, perfect and cheeky lob followed by a goal of the highest order showing great skill and composure to beat a covering defender twice before firing neatly into the top corner.

All this following a period of pressure for Chopra and coming under intense media scrutiny, with some quarters claiming praise on the Geordie to be over-hyped and that his bubble had burst.

The arrival of Jason Byrne seemed to be the catalyst in returning Chops to his usual self, and he now has 16 goals for the season, just one less than more celebrated strikers Earnshaw and Rasiak, each of whom commanded high fees to take them to the Premiership.

'I've had a lot of stick in the press the last couple of months but I've managed to turn things around, after the slump I've gone through to come back and get a hat-trick, you've got to tell yourself you are through it.'
said Chopra after the victory over Leicester.

All of which of course is bad news for Cardiff's next opponents Barnsley who come to Ninian Park to play the Bluebirds in a televised fixture tomorrow (friday).

'I'll go into the next game against Barnsley with a lot of confidence and knowing that practically anything I hit can go into the back of the net.'

Look out Tykes, Chopra's gonna get ya!
