Cardiff go green for striker

Cardiff City have replaced outgoing frontman with Newport County's Matt Green.

Green, 19, is a striker with huge amounts of pace and potential and Cardiff City manager Dave Jones had been interested for a while. Green played for Newport County this season and impressed for the club, scoring 7 goals so far.

Cardiff have close links with the South East Wales club through ex-Cardiff stalwart Scott Young, who is assistant manager with the exiles as well as performing a role with Cardiff's academy.

Young was dissappointed to lose Green from Newport's campaign but realised the opportunity for the youngster:

'He's still young lad but he's got a lot in his locker and he has a chance to make it at a higher level.' Young told BBC Sport.

'Matt's a big loss to us when we are looking for promotion, but I can understand his decision and wish him all the best.

'I told him to get his head down at Cardiff, knuckle down, and see where it takes him.'

Green joins Cardiff for an undisclosed nominal fee. Welcome Matt and good luck.

Doesnt exactly inspire you, a 19 year old from Newport for no money?!? hardly the height of ambition!
