Cardiff striker departs

Cardiff City striker Luigi Glombard has joined Chapionship rivals Leicester City on loan for an initial 1 month period with a view to extending the deal if Glombard and Leicester are happy.

Glombard moved to Cardiff during the summer on a free transfer from FC Nantes. He was brought in as back-up to first choice striker Michael Chopra but failed to make an impression on Dave Jones' squad.

Glombard's most memorable game for Cardiff was during their first loss of the season when he replaced the suspended Chopra but was pulled off at half time following a woeful first half. Since then, the Frenchman has been restricted to a few substitutes appearances and despite looking energetic, has fallen way down the attacking pecking order with the Bluebirds.

Thompson, Chopra, Campbell, Feretti, Byrne and new Dutch signing Iwan Redan meant that Glombard was unlikely to get many chances in the first team despite an impressive run in the reserves having scored 3 in three outings.

Glombard's departure opens the way for Cardiff City to bring in a replacement young striker, who can build his game before being thrust into the Championship.

Good Luck Luigi.

Thought he looked useful on the wing against Plymouth, certainly fast and not afraid to run with the ball
