Cardiff sign Charlton midfielder

Cardiff City have captured ex-Leeds United midfielder on loan from Charlton Athletic until the end of the season.

Walton joined the Addicks in the summer 2006 for a fee of £500k but has not played for Charlton in that time, he has been on loan at fellow Championship club Ipswich Town for the majority of this season and was a regular member of the Tractor Boy's starting XI scoring 3 times to date this season.

Walton is a tough tackling midfielder but also creative. His tenascity and determination is an asset in any squad and he can play in the central, or possibly wide right, position.

Several Championship clubs were interested in securing Walton's services for the season but it was Dave Jones who held out and got his man, having now brought in 6 players in the current transfer window, 2 of those being long term loans just before the window closes.

Welcome Simon, and hope to see you in action soon.

Good timing with Scimeca out then, looks like a decent gamble.
