Purse hopes for Cardiff 'kickstart'

Darren Purse has expressed hi delight at the Bluebirds' ending their dismal 13 game winless streak, despite the captain himself being forced off with a painful back injury.

Purse hoped that the 2-1 victory over Wolves would lift the side and help them put together a run of good form and see them climb the table after dropping out of the play-off positions in recent weeks:

'I hope that will kickstart things for us now. It's a great opportunity to pick up because we have got two home games coming up and our record at home is very good. Hopefully we can get on a run and bring the confidence back to the team.'

'No wins in 11 sounded awful, even though we'd drawn a lot of them, so it felt great to win.'

The Bluebirds had to play the majority of the match without Purse, who suffered bad back pain when jumping unchallenged for the ball. Roger Johnson stepped in and as always gave a good account of himself, he will replace Purse for this Saturday's game with Leicester should Purse not recover.
