Morrison Wants Cardiff Improvement

Morrison Wants Cardiff Improvement

Sean Morrison has opened up about the devastation and frustration he feels for the fans, Cardiff as a club and himself personally by the late goals that have proven so costly this season.

Morrison told the BBC.

'The late goals are frustrating I am sure for the fans, but is devastating for especially a defender, all of us in the back four. It is something we have to improve on, the whole team, not just the back four. We have to see games out.'

The final 10 minutes have accounted for 30% of the goals Cardiff have conceded this season with bottom of the league Rotherham the only club in the Championship to have conceded more.

Late goals have most recently been costly in draws against Birmingham and Blackburn with an own goal seeing the Bluebirds beaten by QPR too.

Cardiff captain Morrison feels we had been in control in most of those games before we slipped up at the death. He went on to add a positive end to the season is being targeted with the lessons we should have learned taken forward.

'The last couple of games we have controlled and then let slip right at the end. We need to learn lessons now for next season, which is what the gaffer is trying to build on, finishing well this year.'

Morrison finished by going on to comment about the new arrivals he's expecting at the Cardiff City Stadium over the summer as Neil Warnock looks to build a 'solid base' to work from.

He doesn't feel this should be seen as too much of a threat more as motivation to those already in place at Cardiff.

'We know there will probably be new faces next year so it is about building a solid base to give it a right good go. Maybe we are driven by knowing new players are coming in. I just think that is what the football industry is. I have never been at a club where there aren't new signings every year.

'You are always wary that if they come in, in your position, they are going to be a 'liked' player. It is just one of those things you need to take on the chin. It is business, it is football and if you have to fight for your position, that's football. If you do well week in week out, you probably won't lose your spot.'
