Cardiff City line-up new striker

Cardiff City manager Dave Jones has confirmed his intentions to sign another striker during the current transfer window.

After the recent capture of Irish striker Jason Byrne, who scored the winner on his debut against Wolves, Jones now has Thompson, Chopra, Campbell, Glombard, Feretti and Byrne on the payroll.

Glombard, Campbell and Feretti have failed to establish themselves despite a lack of goals from Thompson and Chopra, the first choice attack pairing. Glombard's time at City looks to be nearing an end, whilst Feretti may also find himself searching for a new club if the search for another striker is successful.

Cardiff are known to be considering a £1.5m swoop for Sunderland's highly rated striker Stephen Elliot, with his chances likely to be limited at the Stadium of Light and new manager Roy Keane looking to rebuild.

The Sunday Mirror however reported that Cardiff City have registered a firm interest and tabled an £800k written bid for Crewe Alexandra's prolific striker Luke Varney.

The signing of either striker would represent an investment in Cardiff's future and both players would be effective immediately. A signing of these proportions would be a statement of ambition for Cardiff and underline their desire to compete for a Premiership place in May.

Dave Jones confirmed his plans to sign another striker but us usual refused to name any of the possibilities:

'I've looked at a few front men, but we'll only say who they are when they're signed.'

I'd go for Varney if he's half the price but get Glombard and Feretti out on loan

A good win for you on Saturday and with a couple of new players could see you making a claim for the premiership again.I would imagine our Eastwood would fit well in to your team but you can leave him well alone.
