'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Cardiff training complex goes ahead

A brand new £10million training complex is set to end Cardiff City's training problems once and for all and will prove a big boost to all sports in the Welsh capital.

The state-of-the-art 40-acre development will include six international sized training pitches as well as a special all weather surface. The facilities will be shared with Welsh international sides and Cardiff Blues rugby club and provide world class facilities after securing external funding from football bodies FIFA and UEFA.

Spring 2008 is the anticipated completiton date but the plans are excellent news for Cardiff City and Dave Jones in particular.

He has led the campains citing Cardiff's training woes after failing to find outdoor surfaces to train on following spells of wet weather. There is no adequate drainage system at City's current training camp at Trefforest and the squad were unable to train there, instead having to work indoors.

The contruction of the training complex and the new stadium should help attract players to Cardiff City after Jones revealed that the poor facilities had seen him lose out on several players recently.

'This is a momentous day for us. We will go from having no proper training facilities to enjoying facilities of the very highest level.' Said a clearly delighted Jones.
