Spurs vs Cardiff (manager reaction)

Cardiff City manager Dave Jones blamed poor concentration and bad timing for Cardiff's 4-0 mauling by Tottenham Hotspur.

Goals from Lennon, Keane, Malbranque and Defoe saw off a poor Cardiff side with relative ease to see Tottenham progress to the 4th round of the FA Cup:

'For 20-odd minutes we've matched them in every department, but then we've gone to sleep and get caught on the break.' complained Jones.

'We've had a three or four-minute mad spell where we've been our own worst enemies by giving the ball away.'

Jones was disappointed that, despite the result, his side never really threatened to come back and failed to give their opponenents much to deal with:

'The second half was probably about damage limitation, but we've not really tested their goalkeeper.'

Tottenham boss Martin Jol was understandably pleased by his sides professional performance:

'We started well and we played some terrific football. We created a lot of chances and scored some really good goals.'

Jol singled out French international midfielder for special praise:

'Steed Malbranque's work-rate is excellent and he can also score goals - he scored the best goal of the match.'
