Cardiff sign Chelsea midfielder

Cardiff City have confirmed the capture of England Youth International James Simmonds on loan from Chelsea. Simmonds has since played for the Republic of Ireland Under-19s.

The 20 year old will stay with the Bluebirds until the end of this season and will hope to add the creative spark City have lacked in recent weeks.

Simmonds is an attacking midfielder who can play anywhere across midfield but is most used to a central role. He is a product of the Chelsea academy and a regular fixture for the Blues' reserves.

The capture of Simmonds will complete the Cardiff midfield until the end of the season while efforts are still ongoing to sign a striker. Simmonds will be cover to Scimeca and McPhail at first but could force himself into the first team ahead of McPhail whose contribution has been questioned in recent weeks.
