'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Cardiff Player Ratings (vs Southend)

ALEXANDER: 6
Little chance with the goal but was out quickly to collect several times.

GILBERT: 5
Should have scored, always willing to get forward but negative when he does.

McNAUGHTON: 5
Distribution uncharacteristically poor, some tidy defending but offered little in attack.

PURSE: 6
Solid at the back and tried to inspire the side, wasnt threatened too much.

LOOVENS: 6 (M.O.M.)
Some big challenges as the Dutchman became aggrevated, needed to get tighter on occasions but an effective display.

LEDLEY: 5
Under pressure after arrival of Whittingham and Ledley was busy but lacks forward drive. Switched to left back.

FLOOD: 5
Busy and tried hard but wasted some decent positions and lost possession too regularly.

SCIMECA: 5
Failed to dominate as the game cried out for a midfielder to take control. Rarely moves forward when in possession.

McPHAIL: 5
Tried hard and was often available but insisted on clipping the ball aimlessly forward.

CAMPBELL: n/a
Nasty head injury but soldiered on. Some promising touches for once but still failed to impact.

CHOPRA: 4
A shadow of his former self, poor touches and decisions as the striker failed to get any chances. Obviously low in confidence and missed his partner Thommo.

Substitutes:

FERETTI: 5
Finally got his chance bu this way not his sort of game. Some nifty footwork and willing to shoot but drifted out of the game at times.

WHITTINGHAM: 5
Showed early promise but the right foot is only for standing on!

GLOMBARD: n/a
No time to shine and possibly leaving Ninian Park.
