Manager Reaction to Cardiff-Spurs

Manager Reaction to Cardiff-Spurs

Dave Jones was full of pride after watching his Bluebirds side match Premiership outfit Tottenham Hotspur all the way in yesterday`s FA Cup 3rd round tie.

Cardiff City gained a draw with a 0-0 result and Tottenham could count themselves lucky to get a replay. Cardiff didn`t have it their own way but Tottenham looked lightweight in midfield and were made to look toothless in attack by the superb displays of Purse and Loovens in the City defence.

"My players should be proud of themselves because they worked their socks off." Dave said in his post-match interview.

'Even though there were no goals it was an entertaining cup tie and we could have sneaked it, although they had a couple of chances as well.'
Jones also reserve special praise for the big Bluebirds following who played their part and supported the team from first whistle to last.
'The Cardiff fans were terrific and never stopped singing from start to finish.'

Spurs boss Martin Jol was satisfied with the result, hinting at his own apprehension before the game.
'I feel it is a positive result to take them back to White Hart Lane on a replay, maybe the maximum we could have hoped for from a difficult tie.'

I thought cardiff gave a good account of themselves, and we got what we expected (spurs that is) it wasnt great to watch but i thought spurs put it about quite nicely...yeah the pureists will argue we should have beaten lower league opposition 9-0, but it dont work like that anymore, and all in all it wasnt a bad result.....shame about the riot tho ! dont bring those so called fans to the lane please ...fotball dont need it !

I agree Cardiff gave a good account of themselves but you have to be frank and say we were woeful. Lee was worse than useless, Malbranque and Murphy kept giving the ball away and creativity wise we had no answer. For me Tainio was our best player, he always does things simply, rarely gives the ball away and always puts his foot. He is an unsung hero for me and should be switched to play at LB when other 1st choice midfielders are fit. He is a league above LYP and Assou_Ekotto and he will save us £5m odd for a new LB

A good old-fashioned cup tie, played in good spirit and a fair result. Nice to see both Managers giving a fair view in post match interviews without the usual "We should have won it" nonsense. Big positive for Spurs:- A clean sheet for once!
