'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Cardiff City vs Plymouth (reaction)

Dave Jones was bitterly disappointed with his side's first half performance but his team talk at half time inspired a much improved performance by the Bluebirds.

'The first half was a non-event and we were never going to create anything. Jones said.

'I gave them a rocket at the interval and in the second half we picked up and played the game more at our tempo.

'The players are low on confidence at the moment and the side needs help so hopefully we can bring in some fresh faces to liven up the squad.'

Jones was again short of options and was unable to replace the off-colour Chopra yesterday when Cardiff were pushing for the win and in need of a cutting edge and a different option up-front.

Darcy Blake came on to play on the right side of midfield but has already played right back, left and central midfield positions for Cardiff as well as centre back in the Carling cup defeat to Barnet. Although versatile, he is still a youngster and Jones would surely prefer to allow him to settle into a role for Cardiff.

The result leaves Cardiff with 4 draws in 5 and no win in the last 8 games. They have slipped in the table but yesterday's results were kind to City as Derby, Preston and Stoke all lost. Nevertheless it is wins Cardiff need to maintain their play-off spot, and we wait to see what leeway Jones is given to bring in players in January.

Plymouth's eccentric boss also had some choice words after the game, spening the entire game doing starjumps on the touchline - they weren't to keep warm:

'I still believe that football should close down over the Christmas period as everyone out there looked as though they wanted to be at home with their families.'
