Fringe players lose out to Yeovil

Cardiff City fringe players lost on Tuesday to a strong Yeovil Town reserve side thanks to a Danny Webb header at Yeovil's Somerton ground.

Willo Flood, pushing for his 1st Cardiff City start after recovering for a thigh strain, was included to gain match practice while Steven Thompson and Kevin Cooper, formerly a Yeovil Town loan player, were also included.

The match was not publicised at the request of Cardiff manager Dave Jones and was set-up at the last minute with a view to handing Cardiff players some vital gametime with Cardiff's squad already stretched and fringe players short of fitness. As such the game was played behind closed doors at very short notice.

The result (1-0) should not be an issue to City but Flood came through the game unhurt and looks set to play a part against Hull City with City's makeshift midfield already stretched.
