Cardiff's Christmas Wish-List
Cardiff City manager Dave Jones has drawn up a Christmas wish-list of around 40 players he would like to sign during the transfer window in January.
Jones has watched his Bluebirds side falter in recent weeks as the buckle under the pressure of maintaining such a small squad. If their start to the season has impressed many fans and pundits, their drop in recent weeks was expected by many. Injuries and suspensions have taken their toll and the two full-backs for the 2-2 Ipswich draw were a veteran 35 year old and a promising 17 year old - neither of which would make it into many promotion chasing sides.
Cardiff City now have one eye on January 1st when they can draft in new faces to bolster their beleaguered squad and revitalise their Championship campaign. Whilst it is difficult to enjoy the lack of form, Cardiff still lie in 3rd place in a very competitive division and with the right players, could easily find themselves in a promotion tussle come May.
Jones and his scouts have discussed around 200 players with views to making enquires and that list has now been whittled down to about 40 viable players and has this to say on his prospective targets:
"They are players from all over the world and if we get two of them I'll be happy. I know the areas we need to strengthen and I'll keep adding names to the list."
Scotsman Charlie Miller has joined up with Cardiff for a brief trial, the midfielder is under contract with Brann Bergen in Norway but has expressed his determination to win a permanent Bluebirds contract.
