Ipswich manager and ex-player Jim Magilton has paid tribute to Dave Jones ahead of the Cardiff vs Ipswich clash this weekend.
Both sides have been on poor runs of late although Ipswich did score a priceless victory over fierce rivals Norwich recently.
Ipswich would love to extend Cardiff's poor run with a morale-boosting win at the home of the former leaders but Magilton took time out to praise his former manager whom he played for at Southampton
"Dave knows the game inside out. He is still one of the best managers around and his record confirms that. He won promotion to the Premiership with Wolves and is trying to do it all over again on behalf of Cardiff."
Magilton was determined not to underestimate the Bluebirds and was not taking too much notice of the recent dip in Cardiff form:
"The goals can run out for any team in any league. It's obviously a blip because they were right at the top of the league not so long ago and it seemed they might pull clear. I rate their strike partnership of Michael Chopra and Steven Thompson as good as any of the front pairs around at this level.
Both managers have selection issues with Gilbert, Flood, McPhail and Parry missing for Cardiff while Magilton must do without suspended top-scorer and ex-Bluebird Alan Lee.
