Slade Delighted With QPR Fightback

Manager Russell Slade has hailed the togetherness of the team as they came back to take a point from recently relegated Queens Park Rangers.

The gaffer also joked that Scott Malone had predicted he'd score in the game so he was delighted to see him do just that late on.

In quotes carried by Wales Online from his post game press conference, Slade explained.

'Scott doesn`t do that too often, we went for a walk from our hotel on the morning of our game and told me he always scores at Loftus Road. That`s what he said and he was true to his word. It was a great finish. He gave us something we deserved over the 90 minutes and that was at least a draw.'

As for the game itself and the fact we found ourselves two nil down with a second rather controversial strike from them, Slade went on to say it was against the run of play as he'd been delighted with how we were controlling the game - we just hadn't quite done enough in the final third and they were clinical with their efforts.

'QPR were 2-0 ahead against the run of play and were fortunate with that second goal. There were two handballs before the ball went in. Definitely. It would have been nice if the officials had spotted one of them. We were decent between the boxes, but we were also disappointed at the way we conceded the goals. But we played off a good structure, there was good movement and we created chances. There were opportunities because we made good choices.'

He went on to say that the first goal really did give us a lift, and again the second was the least we deserved from the performance for him.

'The application and attitude shown by the players was first class. That character and togetherness has built up over pre-season when we had two weeks away, one in Holland and another at Champney`s Health Resort. They were both good spells for us and we were together 24/7. That got the group together a little more to believe in each other.'

The BBC also have him quoted following the game talking about transfers.

'It would be nice to add one or two. We are spinning one or two plates to see if we can improve the group.'
