Sheffield Wed. 0-0 Cardiff City

Cardiff City failed to make their chances count as they failed to score for the first time this season against a resilient Sheffield Wednesday side. The first half was a dire affair with no real chances of note. Glenn Loovens was unavailable and replaced by Roger Johnson while on-loan Alan Wright started at left back.

After the break Cardiff upped the tempo and looked by far the most likely side to win it but failed to take any chances with Thomspon and Chopra both missing decent opportunities. Ledley and Parry both had shots saved by the veteran Welsh goalkeeper Mark Crossley who had an excellent game between the posts for Wednesday.

Wednesday`s main attacking threat came from on-loan Coventry winger Wayne Andrews who gave Wright a hard time especially after an early booking for the experienced fullback. Alexander did brilliantly to save from Andrews after he burst through late on. Both sides looked to counter-attack and at times it was exciting stuff in an open game but you just felt it wasn`t to be Cardiff`s day and they had to settle for a point.

As 0-0 draws go, this was a good one with little goalmouth action but plenty of endeavour and attacking threats. Cardiff dropped two points but remain top after Preston could only draw themselves.

Next up a midweek game against in-form Stoke City.
