Cardiff post-Burnley reaction

Dave Jones was satisfied with the team's performance against Burnley and was convinced his side had deserved the points:

'We kept our nerve and deserved the win in the end.Burnley are no mugs and they worked hard all game but as long as we kept doing the right things after we had taken the lead, then I knew we would go on and win.'

He was disappointed that Cardiff allowed Burnley a period of pressure at the end with only 1 goal separating the sides:

'We should have put the game out of sight but we had to battle and scrap and show another side to our play. You have to do that when playing against a very physical side.'

'No one is going to come here and let us have our own way all the time and today we've come through a difficult test.'

Burnley boss Steve Cotterill had a very different view of the game and blamed the referee for his side's loss:

'We tried to give it a go in the first-half but it was stop-start because I felt the referee wasn't up to the required standard in the first half.

'I think if you need to come and win down at Cardiff, you need a good strong referee and I didn't see a lot wrong with things he picked up in the first half.'

Coterill also believed his players had deserved all the points saying:

'Although a couple of my players were off-colour we still gave top of the table Cardiff a tough game and a 1-0 defeat doesn't tell the whole story as we certainly deserved something from this game.'

'I'm delighted for my players as we were the dominant side even though there were few goalmouth incidents.'

'we have to take that on the chin and move on to next week now. '
