Gilbert return delayed for Bluebirds

Kerrea Gilbert has suffered a dislocated shoulder training at the Club's Treforrest ground yesterday. He picked up the freak injury going shoulder to shoulder with a team-mate during a practise match. Although Gilbert stayed until the end of the session, he now looks set to miss a number of crunch games for Cardiff City.

Gilbert has an appointment with a shoulder specialist in London and will require surgery and physiotherapy work to rebuild the damaged area. The recovery time is, as yet, unknown with the club unable to confirm the timescale in an official statement this morning but similar injuries take between 1 and 2 months to heal.

The teenage defender is on a season-long loan from Arsenal but will remain at Ninian Park under the supervision of club physio Jimmy Goodfellow. Gilbert has been in good form and helped City maintain the best defensive record in the league until a straight red card after an altercation with Norwich's Paul McVeigh saw him banned for three games.

Dave Jones brought in James Chambers on-loan from Watford to cover Gilbert's absence and is in contact with Watford club officials to extent the loan. Chambers has deputised ably at left and right full-back positions in his 6 appearances to date.

We wish Kerrea a quick recovery and hope to see him back in first team action soon.
