'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Rotation Continues For Ole

Despite some grumblings about manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's tweaking and tinkering in games, he's said ahead of the Capital One Cup game against Port Vale that he intends to rotate the pack again and give some youngsters a chance.

Speaking to the Official Site he also confirmed that the game would be used to give Federico Macheda his Cardiff debut following the back problems he has suffered during pre season so far.

Starting though he looked back again to the Wolves defeat, our first of the season.

'They had one shot from about 25 yards, so that was the positive despite the defeat. I've been on the other end of that, I was part of a Manchester United team which won a game without having a shot on target, beating Everton 1-0 with an own goal, but that's football. United didn't have a shot on target in that game, but we had quite a few against Wolverhampton, so I felt we deserved more.'

The gaffer goes on to say that Mark Hudson is a top pro and he'll know how to deal and bounce back from the disappointment of finding his own net, as like most defenders, it won't have been the first time it's happened to him and he credited him for his initial reaction on the pitch given he was skipper, which was just to pick himself up and get on with the game as that's the exact reaction he wants from everybody when something goes against them.

Speaking more specifically about Port Vale and rotation, he said in a long season if you want to complete on multiple fronts it is simply a part of the game, as you can't expect 11 players to play upwards of 46 games in a season.

'Rotation is part and parcel of what we want to do, we need everyone firing and while I may not make the right decision every time, most of the time I will do. We have to maintain fitness, and with such a short space of time between the games, that's just how it is. I'll always look to freshen things up at times.'

Describing Port Vale as yet another different type of game and challenge that we will have faced this season, he says it will be a chance to get players a game who need one, and also for youngsters to get some experience, but he wants to give them a game and he wants to come out as winners so whatever squad he picks, he has confidence that they can put us through to the next round.
