'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Ole Delighted With Home Start

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said he couldn't have wished for a better home start to the season following our three one victory over Huddersfield Town.

Two goals from Kenwyne Jones, and a long ranger from Peter Whittingham gave us our first win on home soil in our first home game this campaign, and speaking to the Official Site the gaffer couldn't have been more pleased.

'Winning the first home game is important for both the players and the fans obviously. We started a bit slow, but we've got strikers galore and they'll all chip in with goals. If we keep defending like Hudson and Connolly do then we'll be fine.'

Ole goes on again to say that the more often the duo play together in defence, the better they'll become individually and as a partnership, but there are plenty of games ahead for everybody to get a fair chance in the first team this season.

'Kenwyne's not fit enough to play ninety, but he causes plenty of problems. We've got players around him who make that happen - he's got to look after Le Fondre, Burgstaller and Daehli, and they'll create space for him.'

Of course, four points from our two opening Championship games isn't too shabby a return, but the gaffer knows how important momentum will be for us because he knows there is pressure on the team and him in particular to achieve and do well this season, and not only are results important for him, so are the performances and he still wants further improvement there but he's confident that will come.

The gaffer ended by saying that new signing Anthony Pilkington could be in line for his debut when we face Wigan on Tuesday night.
