Loovens blow for Cardiff

Glenn Loovens looks set to miss several games for the Bluebirds witha suspected chip to his eye socket. Loovens score his first goal of the season to open the scoring against Derby on Saturday but was forced off shortly afterwards with what looked like a nasty gash to his eye. It seems now that the injury is slightly more serious and the results of a second scan later today will reveal whether Loovens will need a lengthy spell recovering.

Roger Johnson came on for Loovens against Derby and has impressed in his games so far but has failed to break into the first team ahead of the Loovens/Purse combination. Johnson is set to play against Sunderland anyway and is looking to take his chance again and force himself into the reckoning even when Loovens returns.

Hopefully Glenn will be fit to play immediately but we have 3 good quality centre-halfs to choose from and Johnson has waited patiently for his chance.

Kerrea Gilbert will again miss out as he serves the second of a 3 game suspension.

i think that we should have a look at bringing james collins back on loan as he can't even get a place on the west ham bench, and would strengthen our team a great deal.
