'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Marshall - Survival Is In Our Hands

Goalkeeper David Marshall has said that our Premier League destiny remains very much in the hands of the players following on from the Everton game.

An injury time winner for them lost us a deserved point on the day, but with Marshall again putting in a fantastic performance between the sticks, he says all of the players remain confident and full of belief that we can get the results we need, because they know the fixture list might not necessarily ease up but we have a number of games coming up against those around us in the table, and they are all important.

Speaking to the BBC following the game, the keeper explained.

'It's going to be tough because of the points we've got but we play the teams around us which is a big help. I feel our destiny is still in our hands if we get the points we need.'

As for the Everton showing itself, Marshall says he felt we played and battled well for all of the 90 minutes and he felt as the game drew on we were becoming more comfortable in the game as we were dealing with Everton's threat well and posing a few questions of our own.

'Towards the end I thought we were going to nick it on the counter attack, we played well which we can take into the next game, but it's still disappointing to lose in that manner.'

Marshall says it was an 'unlucky' goal for us to concede in injury time and it was a game that was going to be decided by a freak like that. I'm not even sure Coleman knows how or where he was hitting it.

We can do nothing other than 'pick ourselves up and get on with it' though and that's exactly what Marshall says the team will do.
