Caulker Confident We Can Avoid The Drop

Centre half Steven Caulker has said he remains very confident that Cardiff can avoid the drop this season.

In an interview with Wales Online the defender said that the dressing room remained confident that we could avoid the drop this campaign, and he described new signing Cala as a 'good player and good guy' and he tipped them both to play their parts in helping us to more clean sheets between now and the end of the season in order for us to pick up the wins we needed.

'Juan doesn't speak too much English yet, but he's a good guy and a good player. He's extremely comfortable in possession and is a good character to have in our dressing room.'

Unfortunately Cala's league debut didn't go to plan as Hull stuck four past us, but everyone has to hope that was a one off and the storm before the calm so to speak, although that's easier said that done when we face Spurs next.

'I have a lot of trust and faith in our players. We have all made mistakes at times, but we keep together and encourage each other. On the pitch as captain I am shouting and screaming at those around me, but when we are off the field we have a laugh and there are no hard feelings. It's now about keeping it tight and keeping as many clean sheets as possible. Our job is to show the character and spirit to bounce back. We will show our fight, our passion and go into every game believing in ourselves.'

Caulker goes on to say that above everything else we have to retain our belief and we certainly can't go into games not expecting anything from them because the second we do that it means we have given up and we really will drift away, but with the confidence in the camp and the belief that the manager has in the team, he knows our fate over the next 11 games is squarely in our hands, and he believes we will avoid the drop even if it's by the smallest of margins.

Wouldn't expect Caulker to say anything else but have to admit we'll find it very tough now.

There is a certain 'script' to some of these interviews isn't there :-)
