Noone - FA Cup Is No Distraction

Noone - FA Cup Is No Distraction

Midfielder Craig Noone has said that the FA Cup is not a distraction for Cardiff City as we battle to stay in the Premiership, in fact he thinks it's a blessing as it can help us avoid the drop by being a source of confidence and helping us play ourselves into a winning run of form.

Cardiff face Wigan Athletic this weekend and Noone believes the break from league action will be good for the players, and the 26 year old told Wales Online.

'We've won two cup ties so far and as far as I'm concerned that has simply given us confidence that has reflected our league performances. If we can play well and win another tie we can take that into our next league match against Hull, and that will do us a lot of good.'

There is a certain sense to what Noone is saying here, but that has to be crossed with would a free weekend to work on the training pitch rather than a game itself, be of more benefit?

Of course confidence will get a boost should we win this weekend, but should we lose you can't just turn off a reaction to a loss by saying 'oh well it's the Cup and not our focus' so there has to be a middle ground here.

Take whatever we can from it, and take what we can from the Villa game, hitting the woodwork the knowledge we should've been out in front before they realised the whistle had gone, and get that clinical edge about us as in some ways it's the only thing lacking when we are on top in games, we aren't making it count.

Following on from the Villa game as well, David Marshall has become the first goalkeeper in the Premiership this season to rack up 100 saves and that one at the end of the game was a fantastic way of doing that.
